What's in My Vellvette Bag! (September 2013 Anniversary Edition)

Hello, everybody! :D

Today I'm going to be reviewing my September Vellvette bag, which is also their special 'Anniversary' bag.

You might not know what Vellvette Bag/Box is all about, so let me give you an introduction. You can subscribe to these 'boxes' for a month, 3 months, six months or a year. Each month you get 3 beauty and cosmetic products from top global brands; they can be either samples or full-size products (depending on your luck!). When you subscribe online, you can also fill out a questionnaire based on which they'll send you some differentiated products.

My sister and I subscribed to Vellvette box only in August 2013, so this is the second box/bag we've received.

Since this is their anniversary month, all products were sent in this fancy red polka-dot bag (J'adore!) instead of the usual black box/bag.

We received 3+1 (bonus) products. Here's what we got:

1) Beauty UK Eye Shadow Palette - Naked:

Vellvette was giving out three different variations of this palette this month. One was super colourful (the Soho palette) with shades of blue, green and yellow in it. Now, I am not the kind of person to sport a rainbow on my face, or anywhere else, for that matter, so thank goodness I didn't get that!
The second one was the Earth palette, I think, and it had a few muted greens, greys, whites and blacks in it. I didn't really take a fancy to it, because, well, eh.

I guess Vellvette really does read the questionnaires because this Naked palette is a classic, and that's definitely what we love!
The colours are really rich. 5 of them have shimmer and the other five don't, so that'll make for a great day-to-night transition.
Since the colours are nude, you could use them not just as an eyeshadow, but for highlighting and contouring as well. So yay!
The palette comes with a brush, too, but I'm not too excited about that because it's the spongey kind of brush and I don't know how to use them very well.

This product, I love.

2) Brocato Curlinterrupted Curl Calming Balm:

For girls with thick, curly, wild hair! It promises to have that frizz covered, and can turn your coarse curls into soft, smooth spirals. The product has a 'Curlscience Ingredient Complex' that allows even distribution of the product throughout your hair.

From this:

To this?

Since I do have frizzy, wavy hair, I have high hopes for this product. But I haven't tried it yet because this sample is extremely tiny!!!! It's only 25 ml, and if it does work, I want to save it for a special occasion.

Again, this product seems like it was made for me, so good going, Vellvette!

This product, I probably will love.

3) The Nature's Co. Lavender Body Lotion:

Eh. I don't know what to say about this product. It's only 35 ml. So... tiny. It doesn't seem like a 'luxury product', which is what we expect from Vellvette.
I'm assuming that it's supposed to smell like Lavender, but when I put it on, the scent seemed really masculine. It's sort of overpowering once you put it on, and it's only a little bit moisturising.

No mention of SPF on the bottle. So you can't wear it during the day unless you're prepared to slather on some sunscreen on top of it. Much better to just buy a moisturising sunscreen.

This product, I dislike.

 4) Vellvette Compact Brush (The bonus product):

It's got a mirror in it. Oh, and a pop-up brush. I can't really use it because my hair is too thick and the hairbrush is too small. :|
I don't think I'm going to get any use out of this one, unless I use it as just a mirror. But I have my actual compact mirror for that.

This product, meh.

Overall, the curl balm and the palette make up for the compact brush and the body lotion. Other subscribers got some great things instead of the Body lotion, like products from Lord and Berry and Organic Surge, and full-size too, I think.

But hey, you can't have everything! Next month might be my time. All the three products will expire only by 2015, which is great! :)
Also, I received a 'Welcome Bonus' coupon code that I can share with my friends. Using this code, you can get Rs. 100/- off on your first Vellvette Bag!
 The code is: VLVT13

Hope you liked my review, and if you're a subscriber too, be sure to tell me what you got in your bag!

Until next time!

Welcome, Welcome, Welcome!

Whoa. I almost didn't see you there... but now that you're here...

So, this blog is going to be about, well, everything under the sun - whatever floats my boat, you see. Rants, reviews, updates, chitchat about books, movies, TV shows, beauty products, fashion, annoying habits other people have, things I want to do before I die, awesome YouTubers, annoying YouTubers.... everything!

I'd better tell you a few things about myself before I leave, though.

I don't just like the things that I like. I LOVE 'em! I'm a fangirl - you've been warned! I really hate it when people don't use grammar correctly. And I don't mean internet lingo - though that annoys me, too - but I mean other things that people should know. Like 'you're' and 'your' and 'too' and 'to' and 'no' and 'know'.... I could go on, but I think I might need to make a separate blog post to address this issue.... so I'll leave it for later.

Well, currently I'm learning French. Or trying to, at least. It isn't very easy, the French language, but it just sounds so... sophisticated and stylish. I could just listen to it all day, whether I understand what it means or not.
I'd love to visit Paris. Or even live there. It's a beautiful, romantic city... and I'm a girl, so I pretty much love romance.
I really like travelling, but not the adventurous kind. I mean, my idea of a vacation is not hiking up a mountain and enjoying the view. I'd rather spend my day in a cafe in a foreign country, people watching; or going sightseeing within a city, or just sitting in my hotel room with really good food.

Oh, and I'm a writer. No, I'm not published, and I don't know whether that's going to change anytime soon. But I like writing, so that's good enough. I just write for myself these days, though. I don't really let anybody else read it, just because... well, simply!
I would really like to write a murder mystery one day. I've even thought of one, but I don't think it's very good. Definitely not in the ranks of Agatha Christie or Arthur Conan Doyle. So for now, I'll stick to writing romance/chicklit humour. :)

That's all for now. I hope you'll like my blog... and if you don't, eh well, thanks for the views.

Bye-bye! ^_^
