Goodbye, 2015. Hello, 2016!

Is it normal to have close to zero memories of an entire year? 2015 has come and (almost) gone, and I can't seem to remember anything. The year has been a blur, and not in a good way.
But traditions are traditions. So here I am today, on New Year's Eve, 2015, racking my brain to assess how my year went: the good, the bad, and the silver lining.

My Best Memories

1) My Room + My Roommate = Perfect

Geeks, you might have seen photos of my apartment bedroom on Instagram. Thanks to my lovely, artistic roommate, walking into our bedroom always puts a smile on my face. Sea-green curtains, a neat little bookshelf, glow-in-the-dark stars, fairy lights along the mirror, beautiful wall stickers... for a kid who never had a decorated room in her entire life, this bedroom is everything to me.

2) Hello, Healthy Eating
I used to work out a lot last year, too, but I hadn't changed my diet. I'd do strength training and cardio one day and have Oreos and a packet of chips for lunch the next day, which is probably why I was always so lethargic and sleepy.
Now, I do my best to eat clean every day, but also remember to treat myself with the occasional pizza or plate of French fries or cone of ice cream. It's all about moderation.

3) Proud Author of Two, Y'all!

My second YA novel was a whopping 116k words. Whaaaat? Not That Kind of Girl is now being uploaded on Wattpad, and I have so many more ideas and books in progress. A great year as a writer, to be honest.

4) So That's What Dawn Looks Like
Not counting this entire Christmas vacation week, when my routines have all gone for a toss, I like to start my morning before the sun comes up, usually around 5:30 a.m. I get into bed by 9:30, read for a half hour, and then enter dream world. Becoming an early bird has given me a lot of quiet time during the mornings and has definitely helped balance my sleep cycle.

5) My First Paycheque + Blogging Milestones

I actually made a decent amount of money during my internship... and probably spent it all on books. But hey, it's money that I earned! Plus, I've already done two sponsored posts on my blog, become a freaking ARC reviewer and a contributor at Huffington Post. Despite my low self-esteem, I am so proud of myself.

My Worst Memories

1) Mental Health

In spite of all the incredibly awesome things that have happened to me this year, I am incapable of being the positive, grateful person I thought I could be. The second half of 2015 has been especially difficult with respect to my mental well-being, and I have no idea what's wrong with me.
But on the bright side, at least I'm finally getting help instead of worrying about the stigma of mental illness. I deserve to be happy and healthy and whole, and nobody can tell me otherwise.

It's such a relief to say goodbye to 2015 - this confusing, overwhelming, difficult year - but at the same time, I'm terrified for what 2016 might bring. And a rather medium-sized part of me just wants to hide under the covers for all eternity because I don't have the strength to be hopeful or optimistic anymore.

Time waits for no one, right? So tomorrow, on the first day of the new year, I'll be heading back to Mumbai, unsure of what lies ahead. But as my dear friend Hagrid said, "What's comin' will come, an' we'll meet it when it does."

How did your 2015 go, Geeks? What are your expectations from the new year? Any resolutions? Let me know in the comments below. Have a great 2016!

  1. Alright,

We all, readers of the blog (or at least I) notice each tiny thing that happens here, and on Facebook too. (I've been wondering what the suffix 'ftw' means, I'll google search after commenting. Lol) .

I'd like to mention some things in general, since it's my last comment on this blog.

The grateful list -(Or is it's name is something else? Not sure...but it's good.)

Notice board quotes - (Your roommate's Kamika..I cannot recall the surname, the one who writes quotes sometimes? Yep, I remember..)

The recent left-handed art - Reminds of my childhood and the Grumpy cat sketches I make. Haha..that's domething I adored the most from the rest on your page. Keep that going.

Book reviews and food pics - Have seemed irrelevant to me. But the repetitive use of 'Amma' made the word to fit in my mind. Really. ('Irrelevant' not to be confused with 'anything-negative')

What else, what else. Don't remember, or maybe I cannot recall other nice things right now. Overall, reading the blog acquainted me with some things I knew less about.

My year. (It started with something inauspicious...alas! But I'm an optimist and I'll say things which reflect the words happy-good-great.)

This year I unexpectedly killed my long-term checklist (I keep one), and finished all that I had aimed for. The year brought me peace.

Most of the things I did, wore a mask of anonymity (Never miss a chance to quote yourself) I love it that way. Silent and simple. Maybe that was because I'm a fan of Batman and The Wolverine.

Fell flat on my face in several things by doing them the wrong way (especially writing, blogging, and marketing) learned them...and made everything right again. Faith unbreakable, trust unshakable, I impeccable!

Found time to read books, Watched the movies I wanted to (Long live Stan Lee), and did what I had been waiting for.

Got my first pay from someone whom I respect the most on the internet. Put everything I earned in launching a new startup website (Felt like Elon Musk). To me it's somewhat a big thing. I never thought that it would happen any sooner. You can call this the happiest moment in my life.

Helped some of my blogging pals by commenting, writing letters, and other ways. Learned much from them. It goes like - Learn, teach, and prosper together to make the world better.

Measured my goodness in terms of "thank you's" from people. Helped others, gave lift to random people on roads, and did the other little things which add-up to my belief of being a good human.

New year resolution: Never made one, will never make one. Resolutions happen anywhere between 365 days.

Realized that what I learned was a reward for what I did, I'm grateful for it.

Redefined the basic needs of humans: Food, cloth, shelter, internet.

Learned to be resistant to criticism and developed a "Don't give a darn" attitude. (Wow! I hate the world a lot, but I don't need to abuse since Eminem does the job for me.)

Became a positive manipulating diplomat in order to learn the psychological behavior of people...the year has nothing to do with it but, it matters.

Built a firm relation with God. The greatest force in the world keeps backing me. It always does, I believe.

Many things in world are mere illusions sometimes.
"Jo hota hai wo nahi hota hai, aur jo nahi hota hai wo hota hai" Ishaan Awasthi (Taare zameen par)

Perfect times never come, waiting is not an option, and a mistakes make us wise.

That's all. A great year indeed. I hope 2016 brings joys and prosperity to all in the world.

I subconsciously feel like some great things will happen as 2+0+1+6=9, and that's is my favorite number.(A voice within me says that)

Let's see how well it goes. Like each time, everything shall be welcome. A very happy new year.

May all be blessed with the best!

P.S. I literally began emptying my mind and unknowingly stretched the comment more than necessary. Spare that.

    1. Haha, that's all right. Long comments make my day. Congrats on such a great 2015, and hope you have a wonderful 2016. :)

    2. "Domething" and "that's is my favorite number"

I always do it, it's frustrating. (Somebody hand me a bottle of I won't pay for it! (>_<)

What's on your mind, Geeks? Let me know! :)
